· Community ·
Wellbeing sessions, lunch clubs, networking and more — the community side of Black Ivory.
· The Idea ·
Not everything that happens at Black Ivory starts with the piano. We've made a deliberate choice to open the room to the community during the quieter parts of the week — mornings, early afternoons, Tuesday evenings — for groups that want somewhere better than a church hall without the price tag of a private hire.
We're building a weekly calendar of wellbeing sessions, social lunches, networking mornings and specialist groups. Some are run by us. Most are run by people we trust, in a space we're proud to offer them. If what you're reading sounds like something you'd come to, you're who this is for.
· Every Week ·
Recurring sessions running every week. Come once to see if it's for you.
Tuesday evenings & Friday mornings
A weekly gathering for women navigating perimenopause and menopause — run by a qualified menopause coach who happens to know the room well. Real conversation in a proper space, without the clinical setting. No agenda, no sales pitch. Come on a Tuesday evening or Friday morning and see if it's for you.
Tuesday mornings · Side Lounge
Nutrition conversation and Pilates practice in our side chill-out lounge on Tuesday mornings. Led by someone whose second and third loves — after music — are nutrition and Pilates. A small, consistent group rather than a drop-in; the intention is to build a cohort that improves together over time. Enquire to join.
Thursday afternoons
A proper Thursday lunch for local residents — people have already been asking when we're open and taking menus away with them. The Thursday Lunch Club is the answer. Book a table, bring a friend or come alone, and stay for the afternoon. Good food, no rush, familiar faces after a few weeks.
Sunday afternoons · Monthly
Our monthly Sunday afternoon Coffee & Jazz session, hosted by acclaimed jazz pianist and teacher Maria Nicol. Designed to bring younger audiences into live music — children and families are very much the point, not an afterthought. Tea, coffee, live jazz, and a gentle introduction to how music works, in a room that takes it seriously.
By arrangement
The room works well for small award ceremonies, industry evenings and networking events where you want somewhere that doesn't feel like a function room. We can arrange seating for a presentation, open up for a standing reception, or combine both. Get in touch to discuss your date and format.
By arrangement
The room is open to community groups, club meetings, social circles and interest groups during off-peak hours. If you've got a group that wants to meet somewhere that feels looked-after — and you'd rather have a gin than a cup of instant coffee — we're an option worth considering. Speak to us about what you need.
· Special Event ·
22 August 2026. The whole room open to wellness and health practitioners.
On 22 August, Black Ivory becomes a wellness fair for the day. Traders, coaches, therapists and practitioners are welcome to book a stall — this is a relaxed, curated event in an unusual venue. The kind of day where conversations actually go somewhere, in a room that encourages people to linger.
We're looking for practitioners working in health, nutrition, movement, mental wellbeing, beauty, complementary therapies — anything that fits the spirit of the day. Stall spaces are available at a flat fee. Numbers are limited by the size of the room.
· Run Something Here ·
If you run a group, class, workshop or regular gathering and you're looking for a space in Paignton that's a step above the usual options — speak to us. We're open to the right conversations.
